Access to free newspapers in schools is good news for contract teachers
17 February, 2009
Though it has been estimated that at least 50% of teachers use newspaper reports to add to the content of their lessons, the copyright laws have restricted their use of stories until now.
A website NewspapersforSchools.co.uk has recently been launched to give teachers and contract teachers the facility to download free PDF articles and clippings from the major UK newspapers. The Mail, The Daily Express, Daily Mirror, The Times, The Independent and the Financial Times are all members of this scheme.
As newspapers are an invaluable source of inspiration for teachers and students, this new free service will be a major benefit to pupils, teachers and contract teachers who can prepare their lessons with up-to-date current news.
