Contracting is a resourceful means for the breadwinner
10 July, 2009
Recent reports are showing that contracting or working as a freelance consultant could prove to be a resourceful way of earning money during the recession.
A Sitepoint columnist Alyssa Gregory stated that commissions could be undertaken on a full or part-time basis, which meant that it was a great way to improve experience or skills. Like all other endeavours it takes hard work, experience, skill, research and planning to freelance and the report wanted to dismiss the myths about people who choose to work for themselves and stated that it was possible to earn a decent income from contracts.
Alyssa stated that flexibility was a key perk of freelancing, which allowed individuals to achieve a better work-life balance than some who are employed nine-to-five. She went on to stress the importance of beginning a project with a contract that would outline the specifications of the activities and the agreed payment terms.
