Contractor and temporary employment rose in December
06 January, 2010
According to the latest reports temporary staff appointments rose to the highest level in 30 months, with a particular demand in the clerical, IT and computing and engineering and construction sectors, says the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG’s. The hourly pay rate fell for a 15th successive month, but the drop was the smallest recorded since June 2008.
Kevin Green, CEO of the REC, feels that as we head into 2010, the recovery of the UK job market is accelerating with employer confidence increasing and that vacancies are on the up. He also said that that despite this, it is likely that the job market will remain competitive.
