Contractors group appeal for the IR35 to be dropped in the Pre-Budget Report
09 November, 2009
The Profession Contractors Group has urged Chancellor Alistair Darling to drop the controversial IR35 tax rules in his pre-budget report as freelancers are battling to keep their heads above water during the recession.
According to the Professional Contractors Group freelancers are amongst the first victims of the recession as work opportunities have dropped by 12% over the last year.
Contractor UK argued that removing the “largest single impediment to freelance working” would improve contractors’ ability to retain work and would cost the government little.
