The importance of identifying the right people when making appointments

Tracking down the right person before setting up and appointment is possibly one of the most important factors in making a good impression and towards success.
In many cases contacting the top people in an organisation is not the best plan of action. It is considerably better to aim for the head of the relevant department, ie. marketing, sales, IT, or whoever manages the project you are promoting. While contractors and freelancers should always approach business confidently, they should not assume that they are entitled to reach the organisations’ top people.
